Hollywood Stars Who Dated Their Staff (Celebrities Who Hooked Up With Their Employees)
You'd think that being rich, famous and beautiful would mean that celebs can date whoever they want, but it often has the opposite effect. Dating can be difficult for A-listers- they can't go to a local bar or hop on Tinder.
With that being said, it's not surprising that some of them end up dating their staff. From scandalous affairs that broke up marriages to secret canoodling with bodyguards, join us as we take a look at celebrities who fell in love with their staff.
Hilary Duff is a Repeat Offender
Hilary Duff succumbed to the ultimate Hollywood cliche when she hooked up with her trainer, Jason Walsh in 2015. The pair were rumored to be dating for a while before Duff confirmed it in September of 2015, but by November 2016 the couple had split.
The singer-actress went on to date another former employee, Matthew Koma, who worked with her on her 2015 album Breathe In. Breathe Out. The couple now share a daughter together named Banks, who was born in October of 2018. Here's hoping that this one works out and the rest of Hil's staff are left to their jobs.
Natalie Portman Married Her Choreographer
Natalie Portman landed on her feet in more ways than one when she starred in Black Swan. Not only did the film put the actress back on top, but it introduced her to her future husband, Benjamin Millepied, who choreographed her dance moves.
When Portman accepted her Oscar for her role in Black Swan, she was pregnant with their first son. The couple wed the following year, with Portman giving birth to her second child, a daughter, in 2017. During her acceptance speech for her award, she thanked her beau for gifting her with the "most important role of my life."
We All Know Britney Spears' Story
Britney made headlines for her tumultuous relationship with her baby daddy, Kevin Federline. Federline was her backup dancer before they hooked up. The union didn't last long and resulted in a very public custody battle for their two sons, as well as a highly-publicized breakdown on Brit's part.
K-Fed wasn't the only member of staff that Britney supposedly got down and dirty with either. A former bodyguard claimed she made multiple advances toward him, and she also dated her choreographer Colombus Short for a time before calling it quits. These days, Brit seems to be on a much more even-keel.
Jennifer Lopez Likes a Man Who Can Dance
Just like Britney, J-Lo has a thing for her entourage. She hooked up with her dancer Cris Judd, going on to marry him. When they split she had several high-profile relationships before she dated another dancer, Casper Smart.
The two stayed together from 2011-2016 before calling it quits, with J-Lo going on to date former New York Yankees baseball player Alex Rodriguez. As of 2018, Alex and J-Lo look pretty content with each other, so let's hope this is the real thing for the 49-year-old songstress. There's no sign of a wedding yet, but given her penchant for nuptials we wouldn't be surprised.
LeAnn Rimes Has No Regrets
Country singer LeAnn Rimes met her first husband Dean Sheremet when he was picked to dance with her at the 2001 CMA's. The pair tied the knot the following year when Rimes was just 20, but despite being a happy relationship, it wouldn't last.
The couple split in 2009 when Rimes began an affair with actor Eddie Cibrian after meeting on the set of a movie. Cibrian was married to Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Brandi Glanville at the time, with whom he had two sons. Rimes later said, "I take responsibility for everything that I've done. I hate that people got hurt, but I don't regret the outcome."
Arnold Schwarzenegger's Mistress Worked in Their Home
Arnie is certainly no stranger to scandal, but the biggest shock came in 2011 when it was revealed that he had secretly fathered a child in 1997 with his housekeeper of 20 years, Mildred Beana. Arnold's wife, Maria Shriver, reportedly had sneaking suspicions about the parentage of Beana's son, Joseph, but didn't know for sure until her husband admitted it after his role as Governor of California came to an end.
The jury's out on whether Arnie was just getting his rocks off with the staff or if he really loved her, but considering that he kept her around until the scandal broke, there must be some affection there.
Heidi Klum Dated Her Bodyguard
After months of speculation, supermodel Heidi Klum admitted that she was dating her bodyguard, Martin Kristen in 2012 following on from her split with Seal. While the couple seemed strong, they went their separate ways in 2014.
Sources claimed that Martin got bored of being Mr. Heidi Klum as he was often tasked with looking after the children from her previous marriage while she was out earning the big bucks. Klum reportedly paid him off with a house in South Africa and some hush money so that he wouldn't speak about the ins and outs of their relationship to the media. How romantic.
Nicki Minaj's Boyfriend Was Also Her Assistant
Cardi B's famous foe, Nicki Minaj had a long-term relationship with her assistant, Safaree Samuels. While Minaj has never spoken out about the relationship, Samuels was very vocal about it, even hitting her with a lawsuit that claimed she had been abusive toward him.
The two were supposedly together for eleven years, but it was the work/relationship dynamic that got things confused. "It got to the point where I was being treated like an employee, instead of like her man," said Samuels. Nicki touched upon relationships in a later interview, saying, "When I came in the business, you couldn't tell people you were in a relationship because it didn't make you appealing to men. After you do that for ten years it's difficult to break out of that box."
Christina Aguilera and Her Fiance Met On Set
Christina Aguilera found her long-time love on the set of her 2010 film, Burlesque. Matthew Rutler was working as Aguilera's production assistant on the set, right at the time her marriage to husband Jordan Bratman was ending. When the singer announced the separation, it wasn't long before her and Rutler became an item.
The two now have a daughter together and are engaged, but they're not about to rush into marriage anytime soon. "I have my hands full and I'm not in a rush to set a date," said the songstress. "I want to plan it and cherish the moment, while not feeling rushed."
Usher Fell in Love with his Co-Manager
Usher met his first wife, Tameka, when he hired her as a stylist. The pair married in 2007, before splitting in 2009. After that relationship didn't work out, Usher began dating his co-manager Grace Miguel. The couple dated for several years before making things official in 2015.
It looks like this is the real deal for the Confessions singer, who praises his wife at every opportunity. "I have an incredible partner and manager," he said. "She has helped me through some of the hardest times in my life and my career. She's someone who's been able to support and understand all of who I am." D'aw.
Ethan Hawke Married the Nanny
Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman seemed like the ideal couple. They certainly had the on-screen chemistry, but it would all end in tears. The pair married and had two children together, but Hawke soon realized that he had a thing for the nanny, Ryan Shawhughes.
Hawke maintained that nothing happened at the time Ryan was working for him and Uma, but the couple soon got together after he separated from Thurman. They went on to marry and have two daughters of their own. However, that doesn't stop the majority of the world thinking there's more to this story than meets the eye.
A Flight Attendant Caught Kelsey Grammer's Eye
Kelsey Grammer is another former husband of a Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star who gave his wife the boot. The Fraiser star met Kayte Walsh when she was serving him as an air hostess on a Virgin Atlantic Airways flight in 2009. Kelsey went on to ask the English woman out on a date - despite being married.
The pair hit it off, with Kayte being 25 years his junior. After his divorce to wife Camille was finalized, Grammer and Walsh married in 2011. They now have three children together, a daughter and two sons. Talk about love at first flight...
Jude Law Regrets His Affair
Jude Law and Sienna Miller were the epitome of Hollywood glamour during their marriage, looking every inch the perfect couple. However, Jude couldn't behave himself and ended up having an affair with the couple's nanny, 26-year-old Daisy Wright. Law issued a public apology for his actions.
"There is no defense for my actions which I sincerely regret and I ask that you respect our privacy at this very difficult time," read the grovelling statement. Law never made an attempt at giving things with Daisy a go, and instead tried to patch things up with Sienna. The marriage limped on until 2011 when they officially split.
Future Mixed It Up With His Wardrobe Consultant
Rapper Future is better known for his relationship with R&B singer Ciara than his own musical endeavours, but he lost the songstress for good when he cheated on her with his wardrobe consultant, Tyrina Lee. Ciara called off the engagement in 2014 when the affair came to light.
Future isn't a stranger to scandal, having had four children with four different women. The dalliance with Tyrina Lee didn't last, and he's now expecting his fifth child with another woman. One of his baby mamas has sued him for non-payment of child support, while Ciara is currently taking him to court for defamation, slander, and libel.
Scarlett Johansson May or May Not Have...
Scarlett Johansson reportedly had a fling with her bodyguard in 2012. Paparazzi snapped her getting cozy with her security detail on a boat trip, but her reps downplayed the incident. Although the pictures seemed to capture the bodyguard stroking Scarlett's stomach, he was supposedly just looking at his phone.
The actress went on to marry French advertising executive Romain Duriac, but the pair divorced a couple of years later in 2017. Not long after the divorce was settled, it emerged that Scarlett was dating Saturday Night Live writer and Weekend Update co-host Colin Jost. Could it be third time's the charm?
Robin Williams Also Fell in Love with the Nanny
The late, great Robin Williams met his wife of 20 years, Marsha, when she was working as a nanny for his son with first wife Valerie Velardi. After Velardi and Williams divorced, he married Marsha who was already pregnant with their first child. Marsha would continue to work with him, but as a producer on some of his biggest movies.
The two went on to have another child before throwing in the towel in 2010, citing irreconcilable differences. Williams later married his third wife, graphic designer Susan Schneider in 2011. They would stay together until Robin's tragic passing in 2014.
Madonna Made It (Very) Public
Madge is another star with a taste for staff, having dated several of her employees in the past. Dancer Timor Steffens and Brahim Zaibat are both in her little black book, as is her personal trainer Carlos Leon who is also the father of her daughter, Lourdes.
Madonna also caused quite the stir when she accused her female personal trainer of sleeping with her boyfriend. Onstage at a concert in Manila, she told fans of the incident. "She was gorgeous and a very talented trainer," said Madge. "But she [expletive] my boyfriend, so I fired her." Sources claim the singer was talking about her trainer of several years, Nicole Winhoffer.
John Legend Hired Chrissy Teigen for a Music Video
Chrissy Teigen and John Legend are the ultimate couple goal, but it started out as a paid relationship. Legend hired the reputed model for one of his videos, but the two hit it off so much that they took it back to a hotel to seal the deal.
It wasn't love at first sight though, as Chrissy played it cool while John carried on dating other women. Eventually, they got it together once and for all, tied the knot and became parents to two adorable children, Luna Simone and Miles Theodore. Both tots were conceived using IVF treatment which Chrissy has spoken openly about.
Shania Twain Swapped Husbands With Her Secretary
Buckle your seatbelts for this one, it's about to get bumpy. Shania didn't fall in love with one of her employees in the strictest sense, but she did marry her former secretary's ex-husband. The confusion began when Twain's husband Robert Lange left her for the same secretary, Marie-Anne Thiebaud, who was also Shania's BFF.
A couple of years later, and Twain married Thiebaud's ex-husband, Frederic in 2011. The bizarre spouse-swap was baffling, but obviously, it all worked out for the best. What an odd way to end a marriage that had been going for almost 25 years.
It Was a Good Move for Kelly Rowland
Destiny's Child singer Kelly Rowland didn't have to go very far to find true love - it was in her office. Rowland and her manager Tim Weatherspoon began dating in 2011. Two years later, the star announced their engagement during an appearance on The Queen Latifah Show.
The pair tied the knot the following year on May 9, 2014, with some pretty big names in attendance. Both Beyonce and her sister Solange were on the guest list, as were some other A-listers. In November of the same year, the couple welcomed their first child, Titan Jewell. We love a happy ending.
