TikTok Star Goes Viral After Horse Ranch Kicks Her Out For Her Weight
Horseback riding can be a therapeutic experience for most, but it may come with some limits. After TikTok star Remi Bader was denied the opportunity to ride a horse at a Montauk ranch, she took to social media to call them out.
Remi Bader, The TikTok Queen
Remi Bader is one of the most popular TikTok users on the app. She has over two million followers and almost 74 million likes on her videos.
Not only is she a content creator, but a plus size model.
Having An Influence
Since Remi's videos usually get thousands to millions of views on TikTok, she has a unique influence that many don't have.
This would come in handy after her trip to a horse ranch.
Visiting Deep Hollow Ranch
As a nice treat for herself, Remi traveled to Deep Hollow Ranch in Montauk, a city in upstate New York.
She loves to ride horses and wanted to take part in the activity at the ranch.
She Got Denied
After she arrived at the ranch, Remi was informed that she would not be allowed to ride any of the horses.
She was in total disbelief after learning that her weight was the driving force for this decision.
Riders Have A Weight Limit
Deep Hollow Ranch has a strict rule that no one over 240 pounds is permitted to ride the horses.
Remi fit into that category and was thus denied the opportunity to go horseback riding.
Remi's Response
Remi had ridden horses in the past at her current weight, so she was confused as to why there was a weight limit.
"I've rode horses before and have never had this issue. Please advertise this on your signs for the future," she wrote.
There Was No Warning
While Remy was bummed that she got turned away, she thought the ranch didn't handle the situation properly.
She explained that there was nothing on their website or anywhere else online that listed this rule.
Calling The Ranch Out
Since Remi was devastated over the situation at the ranch, she made a TikTok video to get out her frustrations.
"Shoutout to Deep Hollow Ranch in Montauk for making me leave because I weigh over 240," she wrote.
What Was In The Video
Remi wanted to make sure her followers got a good look at Deep Hollow Ranch.
Not only did she write the name of the ranch with the location, but she taped different parts of the ranch with guests and employees clearly in view.
A Ranch Worker Claps Back
After Remi's video started trending on TikTok, the son of the owners of Deep Hollow Ranch made a video in response.
Broudy Keogh tried to handle the situation in his own way, but people were quick to call him out.
Broudy Responds To Remi's Comment
In a previous video, Remi wrote, "I don't really need any opinions on this one. It's the fact of how it wasn't advertised and how poorly it was handled. This was my experience, not yours."
Broudy thought he had the perfect response.
Broudy's Cruel Words
Broudy went forward and highlighted Remi's comment in his clap back video.
Then, he stood next to some horses and said, "When you're not fat... you can ride at Deep Hollow Ranch."
Remi Would Not Allow The Bullying
Remi couldn't fathom how someone could respond to her situation with such disrespect.
She stitched his video with a new one of her own where she wrote, "Imagine this being Deep Hollow Ranch's response to your experience."
Deep Hollow Ranch Was In Deep Trouble
After doing a duet video on TikTok with Broudy, Remi's supporters tried to console her in the comments.
"It took this dude three seconds to ruin his family's business," said TikTok user the_lindsay_love.
More Remi Supporters Poured In
People were ready to defend Remi after the owners' son was abominably rude to her.
"Are we ready to leave those one star Yelp reviews ladies?," said one user. "I am truly speechless at the cruelty! Absolutely unacceptable in every way," said another TikTok user.
A Former Employee Comes Forward
A former employee of Deep Hollow Ranch saw the videos on Remi's account and shared their experience.
"They treat [their] customers like absolute garbage," said the viewer. Remi and her followers wouldn't let the ranch get away with this.
Time For Some Damage Control
Remi's story had blown up online, so Deep Hollow Ranch took to Facebook to try and do some damage control.
Their half-hearted apology stated it was a "teenage employee" who "posted a response that in no way represents nor is aligned with the views that the owners of the ranch hold."
The Ranch Gets Called Out
People were quick to say that Deep Hollow Ranch failed to mention in their apology that Broudy was not a teenage employee, but the son of the owners.
Commenters wrote that Broudy should be fired and take ownership of his negligent actions.
Was The Weight Rule Misogynistic?
As more people became aware of the ranch's weight limit rule, it was unclear if it was for all genders.
Some questioned if this standard applies to men who are over 240 pounds.
Remi Set An Example
Remi was adamant to let the public know that she was mistreated for being overweight. The public completely agreed with her and followed up with the ranch.
"This is so embarrassing and truly shows the culture of your business," said a disgruntled commenter.
