Going to Disneyland can be an extremely enjoyable experience, but there are some guests who taint the trip for everyone else. Getting shoved in line, having to endure unnecessary screams and camera flashes on rides, or enduring a constant stream of complaints isn't exactly joyous. Read on for some of the worst people you might encounter at Disneyland.
People Who Get Way Too Close In Line
It's no surprise that Disneyland is an extremely popular place, but that doesn't mean personal space rules go out the window. It may feel like you're going to get on the ride faster by being as close to the person in front of you as possible, but you're not.
There are only so many seats on each ride, so getting on is a matter of numbers, not distance. The one thing worse than standing in line is doing it with someone's breath on your neck.
The One Who Screams At EVERYTHING
Even though Disneyland is the happiest place on earth, there are certain moments that necessitate a good scream. Going down a huge drop or getting spooked on the Haunted Mansion ride are a couple of examples.
But then there's that person who screams at literally everything. There's no reason to scream at every corner you turn on It's A Small World or when it gets a little dark on the Indiana Jones ride. Don't even get us started on the teacup ride.
The People Who Don't Know How To Handle A Stroller
Disneyland is inarguably made for kids, so of course there's going to be a parking lot worth of strollers all over the place. The problem is that strollers can make things a heck of a lot less efficient.
For instance, when getting ready to board a tram, it may be a good idea to start breaking down the stroller before the thing arrives. Also, the stroller is not a tool to jam your way through crowds!
The Person Who Stinks
Anytime there's a crowd of people, odds are there's going to be someone that could use a little extra deodorant. Even worse, they might need an entire shower and change of clothes because it's that hot and they are that sweaty.
It's one thing when the smelly individual is nearby while you're waiting in line, but the worst is when you're stuck on a ride with them. We're not sure what's scarier, that big drop coming up or them putting up their arms in excitement.
The Ones Who Can't Put Their Camera Away
It can be aggravating in general when someone won't put their camera down, but especially at a theme park. Isn't the point to enjoy the experience? We get posing with a character or in front of the castle, but must you capture every moment on a ride?
The last thing anyone wants is to be the weird face in the background of someone's candid Disney photo. Plus, camera flashes really kill the mood during a show, parade, or dark ride.
The Person Who Splashes Strangers
Obviously, anyone going on a water ride should be willing to get a little wet. There's nothing worse than someone getting upset over how soaked they got on a ride they elected to go on.
Oh wait, actually there is someone worse than that. It's the person who keeps splashing everyone! Getting splashed from a big drop is one thing, but having drops constantly splattered all over by a complete stranger is another. Let us enjoy the Pirates of the Caribbean ride in peace!
The One With All The Disney Pins
There are too many Disney pins to count, but some people feel the need to get each one before it's too late! These are also the ones who may try to trade pins or at least have to stop and admire one another's.
Disney merchandise is cute for kids, but at some point, it is time to stop. We already know you're super obsessed with Disneyland, it's written all over the whites of your eyes.
People Who Don't Listen To The Rules
On Reddit, some cast members have complained about the guests who don't follow the rules. It isn't that the workers are overly obedient, but rather is that they tend to get blamed when a broken rule results in consequences.
One former cast member recalled a time when a parent let their kids play on the line chains after being told not to. As soon as the little one bonked their head, it was all the employee's fault. Remember that the rules are in place for a reason!
The Driver Jamming Up The Parking Lot Line
In the decades since Disneyland first opened its doors, hundreds of millions of guests have entered the park. After all that, it's safe to say that the parking situation is about as smooth as it can be.
There are plenty of signs and instructions all over the place, so why someone needs to jam the line to talk to the parking attendant for 20 minutes is beyond us. What did they need, an inch-by-inch description of the entire park?
The Person With Their Head In A Map
Of course, you want to be sure that you get to every single spot on your list at Disneyland. After all, it did cost an arm and a leg just to get into this place.
But must you check the map in the middle of the street? The hundreds of people walking around may as well be a freeway, and you're blocking the flow of traffic! Find somewhere to sit before burrowing your head into that thing.
The Ones Who Unabashedly Bump Into Everyone
The crowds at Disneyland can get a little unruly, especially during holiday seasons, weekends, major events, or when a new attraction opens up. Common courtesy doesn't disappear just because a ton of people are around, though.
It's amazing the nerve of some guests who have no problem bumping past anyone in sight without even an "excuse me." We understand that your wife was holding your spot in line. All you had to do was ask to get by.
The Person With Balloons Right By The Parade
If going to the parade, firework show, or any other crowded event is on your Disneyland agenda, go ahead and hold off on buying balloons until you're on the way out.
Waiting extra long to get a front-row seat is not an excuse to block the view of those in the back. At the very least, hold the balloon in your lap! The same goes for Mickey Mouse ears and cone-shaped princess hats. Be a little mindful, would ya?
The One Who Won't Stop Complaining
Even though Disneyland is the happiest place on earth, there are bound to be some things that are less than perfect. The crowds may get in the way, the line may be extra long, they may be out of your favorite snack.
But that's no reason to waste the day complaining. There's nothing worse than that person who goes on and on about how something isn't enough. Make the most of it for the sake of having a great time.
Anyone Who Is Rude To A Cast Member
Disneyland has pretty high expectations of cast members, so there isn't much that they can do in the way of defending themselves. As with many customer service positions, the customer is always right.
Being that cast members are going to either be as sweet as humanly possible or get fired, there's really no reason to get rude with them. If someone's kid missed a photo op, maybe it's a good life lesson in not always getting what you want.
People Who Abuse The "Saved Spot" Rule
Disneyland is a family place, so of course there's going to be those times when groups get separated and reemerge together in line. Perhaps one parent took their child to the bathroom while the other waiting in line, for instance.
But a line has to be drawn when a dozen teenagers are trying to claim that a single friend was saving their spot. If it's going to be a noticable setback for those who have been patiently waiting, head to the back of the line.
The Person Speaking Along With The Haunted Mansion Narration
One of the best parts of the Haunted Mansion ride at Disneyland is the narrator. That deep voice sets the tone for the rest of the ride and makes the experience that much more thrilling.
Of course, all of that mystique disappears the moment someone decides to speak along with the narration. The same goes for any other ride. We don't care if it's the ride rules, if someone's talking along with it, the magic is ruined.
The Person Ordering A Boatload Of Food
Disneyland is typically a day-long event, so you're bound to need some food at one point or another. There's nothing like finally getting to the front of a long line only to hear the person ahead of you place an enormous order.
We get that having one person order everyone's food saves space in the line. Still, that moment of realization that your order isn't going to be ready for even longer than expected is a stinger.
That One Person Who Keeps Staring
There aren't many options in terms of where to look while standing in line. Many people will opt to kill the time on their phones or look to someone in their group to hold a conversation.
But then there's that person who doesn't realize they've let their gaze fall on you for several minutes. The worst is when you make eye contact and they still don't look away! It's not like you can just move to a different part of the line.
People Who Make Everything A Sing-A-Long
It's A Small World can be one of the cutest rides at Disneyland or one of the most annoying. It all depends on who is in the boat. If it's a crew of teenagers singing along the entire way through, it's bound to be an eye-rolling kind of ride.
Any ride, and especially any show, isn't an invitation to sing along. Especially when the song is super repetitious, it can suck the joy right out of the moment.
The Ones Having A Lengthy Conversation ON A RIDE
We're not sure who needs to hear this, but a ride is not a place to gab about Alicia's marital problems. You just had an hour and a half to do that while waiting in line!
Once everyone is seated on the ride, the only acceptable sounds are cries of joy and laughter. Even if the chit-chat is lighthearted, it can be a huge distraction. This is especially true during the narration on a ride. Don't you know it's rude to interrupt?!
