This Ukraine Artist Re-Imagines Her Celebrity Favorites As Disney Characters
Ukraine-born artist Helen Morgun has enjoyed Disney since she was a young girl. So, what better way to show her appreciation that re-imagining some beloved characters, using celebrities as inspiration? From Tom Hiddleston as Hades to Margot Robbie as the Ice Queen, Elsa, Morgun definitely gave Hollywood some great inspiration for future live-action remakes.
Interestingly, it's not only the physical features of the celebrities that make sense with their Disney counterpart but their personalities as well. Scroll through; you're not going to want to miss Morgun's amazing work.
Tom Hiddleston As Hades
Sorry, but if there were ever a perfect celebrity to fit the sassy-a-frass that is Hades in Hercules, it would be Tom Hiddleston. Not only does the drawing give us major blue-toned Loki vibes, but we can literally see him sipping on that worm drink while plotting his next move to overthrow Zeus on Mount Olympus.
And is it just us, or does everyone else think Hades should always rock a bit of stubble? All of a sudden, going to hades doesn't seem so scary.
Elizabeth Olsen As Jane
Show of hands, who thinks Elizabeth Olsen playing British scholar/explorer Jane, is the perfect casting choice? Well, we certainly do! Just by looking at this illustration, it is clear that Olsen was meant to play the role of the lady who teaches Tarzan there are others like him in the world.
Olsen has the sweetness, innocence, and adoration from those around, all of which truly characterize Jane. Not to mention the actress has the ultimate beach waves for a live-action character!
Emma Watson As Anna
We know, we know, Emma Watson already had the privilege of playing a Disney princess. But Morgun's interpretation of Anna from Frozen II, using Emma Watson as inspiration, makes so much sense.
Not only does Watson personify the quirky younger sister of the Ice Queen, but we can also totally see her going on adventures with a snowman and reindeer while singing "The Next Best Thing" and eventually becoming Queen of Arendelle herself.
Ariana Grande As Megara
Let's start by saying that Ariana Grande, as the sassy Megara from Hercules, hits the nail right on the head. Everything from Meg's sultry dark eyes, olive-toned skin, to her ponytail screams Ariana.
We mean, what is Ariana, if not the girl with the ponytail? The fact that the singer just released a cover of "I won't say I'm in Love" emphasizes the fact she was born to play Meg. Disney, take Helen Morgun's advice, Ariana needs to play Meg in a live-action movie.
Margot Robbie As Elsa
Not only does Morgun illustrate Margot Robbie's beauty perfectly, but she skillfully brings forward some of the actress's more notable features, bringing Elsa to life. Most notably, her signature pout and manicured eyebrows.
And while the artist pulled out all the stops for this Frozen II princess, we're still just sitting here waiting for the picture to come to life to ask us if we want to build a snowman. Which, of course, we would.
Scarlett Johansson As Anastasia
Ok, yes, technically speaking, Anastasia isn't a Disney princess, but that doesn't make her any less awesome or the animated movie less worthy of a live-action remake. Because let's be honest, if there were ever to be a live-action Anastasia, it would be awesome, especially if Scarlett Johansson was leading the charge.
Not only does she have all of the lost princess' attitude, but she can rock bright red hair like nobody's business. Yes, we are totally here for this character.
Lena Headey As The Evil Queen
Considering Lena Headey is everyone's favorite evil queen to hate in Game of Thrones, Morgun was on to something when she envisioned the actress as the evil stepmother/queen from Snow White.
If Disney were to remake the classic film, they'd be silly not to cast Headey. Who else would be able to persuade a huntsman to go after a young girl and bring her back her heart? Answer: not many people. Heady just has that aura about her that makes people do her bidding when she's queen.
Helena Bonham Carter As Yzma
We're sure Helena Bonham Carter is a lovely lady, but we can't help but smile at the fact the artist chose Yzma as the actresses Disney counter-part. Considering Bonham Carter plays quirky, villainous characters in a lot of her films, this drawing makes perfect sense to us.
Also, the drawing is so life-like, down to Bonham Carter's stellar jawline, that we can almost hear the actress's high-pitched voice as she tells Kronk she plans on killing Kuzko and taking over the empire.
Lady Gaga As Ursula
This might be our favorite drawing. Morgun had the genius idea of turning Lady Gaga into a little monster. And that monster just so happens to be one of the best Disney villains, Ursula from The Little Mermaid.
Not that Lady Gaga needs any help with her voice, but we'd be lying if we said we wouldn't be interested in seeing her singing "Poor Unfortunate Souls" while stealing Ariel's voice. Plus, the singer looks awesome with purple-tinted skin.
Rihanna As Tiana
We're going to start by saying we are so here for Rihanna being Tiana from The Princess and the Frog. Even though she would technically be a frog for a majority of the movie, we agree with Morgun's celebrity choice! Rihanna would be a sassy little frog.
As human Tiana, not only does Rihanna look just as gorgeous as the animation, but she would totally slay all of the New Orleans-style jazz music that makes up the Disney film's score.
Mila Kunis As Esmeralda
To say Mila Kunis is a living breathing Esmeralda would be an understatement. The actress has all of the exotic physical attributes of the beautiful gypsy from the Hunchback of Notre Dame, so Kunis playing her in a live-action makes total sense to us.
Honestly, all Kunis would have to do for the character is channel her inner sassy-Jackie from That '70s Show while sprinkling in some of Donna's feminist traits, and she's good to go!
Lili Reinhart As Alice
Artist Mogun was on to something when she chose to portray Riverdale actress Lili Reinhart as Alice from Alice in Wonderland. The young actress has a whimsical innocence about her, something that perfectly matches the characterization of Alice.
We can totally see Reinhart frolicking through the weirdly large flowers and mushrooms of Wonderland while coming in contact with the Mad Hatter and Cheshire Cat. Yea, Disney, we need you to make this live-action remake happen ASAP.
Emma Stone As Cruella De Ville
Due to the ridiculous cuteness that is Emma Stone, it's kind of hard to picture her as the old hag Cruella de Ville. But then you think that the evil puppy-snatching villain had to be young at one point in time, and now Morgun's illustration makes total sense.
Not only is Stone an amazing actress who can embody anyone, but she can also bring a whole new level of sass and mischief to the character. And, yes, we are talking as though she's already playing the role because she is!
Selena Gomez As Moana
Can we all agree that Selena Gomez is practically a Disney princess considering the years she spent playing Alex Russo on the Disney Channel? So, Morgun re-imagining the actress and singer as Moana just makes sense.
Gomez has the heart, soul, and passion to bring this character to life, and we think Disney would be out of their mind not to cast her in a live-action remake. We mean, just look at the illustration; she would be amazing, especially if The Rock played Maui, aka himself.
Billie Eilish As Kida Nedakh
All we have to say about this is Billie Eilish really should adopt the ice-blue practically white hair of Kida Nedahk from Atlantis: The Lost Empire, and maybe a temporary face tattoo because the design just looks cool.
Regardless, we see where Morgun is going with casting Eilish as the Atlantis native. She's innocent in her own way, but she is extremely loyal to her family and people. If you think about it, the singer's personality is very similar!
Blake Lively As Aurora
Considering the beautiful Blake Lively already looks like a Disney princess, Morgun was right on the money when she drew the actress as one of the original princesses, Aurora. Not only does she have the wavy hair, but Lively also has the grace and fluidity it would take to be Sleeping Beauty.
Granted, we haven't heard her sing, but that's beside the point. All we want to see with this type of remake is Ryan Reynold's Deadpool throwing birds her way while she sings.
Lily Collin's As Snow White
First off, awesome modern take on the classic tale of Sleeping Beauty. Not only is Lily Collin's a perfect fit for the role, but she'd be able to put a cool spin on the tale. Let's just hope she doesn't bite into the Apple phone like Snow does the actual apple in the movie.
That being said, Collin's fresh look, ability to pull off a bob haircut, and her experience playing Snow in Mirror Mirror has us thinking Disney needs to make another Snow White movie.
Rachel McAdams As Cinderella
We're not sure about you guys, but it's amazing to us the amount of detail Morgun's able to get into her illustrations. This drawing of Rachel McAdam's as Cinderella, for example, is spot on, right down to the smile lines around the actress's face.
And can we also say her fairy godmother has some excellent taste! Who wouldn't want to transform from rags and beat-up shoes to Jimmy Choos and Zuhair Murad dress? Both are absolutely stunning!
Camila Cabello As Jasmine
So, we're somewhat embarrassed to say we're overly giddy at this re-imagining. Even though Disney already made a live-action Aladin, they missed an opportunity with casting singer Camila Cabello. Not only is she stunning like Jasmine, but can you imagine her singing "A Whole New World?"
All that would have to happen is Shawn Mendes taking over for the lead role, and we would have on-screen Disney chemistry like never before! Petition to make Mogun's drawing reality, folks!
Lucy Liu As Mulan
Yes, they already made a live-action Mulan. No, they didn't cast Lucy Liu as the lead character. Yes, we think that was a mistake, based on Morgun's amazing drawing of the actress as the female warrior.
If Charlies Angeles and Kill Bill taught us anything, it's that Liu can kick some major butt. So, we'd be all for her taking on the Huns, bringing honor to her family, all while becoming one of the fiercest fighters in all of China.
