Films, Shows, And Docuseries: All The Content Coming To Netflix In August
With the summer heat and humidity, what better way to spend the days than staying inside with some good old-fashioned Netflix binge-watching? Netflix subscribers will have the opportunity to enjoy new dramas, television series, documentaries, and much more when the platform adds new content in August.
In just a few days, Netflix will add popular series and movies such as The Legend of Korra, Mr. Deeds, and even Jurassic Park. Trust us, you'll be glued to the TV after reading this list.
The Addams Family
The supernatural dark comedy The Addams Family is coming to Netflix in August! Now, this isn't the film where the kids go to summer camp and freak everyone out. This is the 1991 film revolving around a fake Uncle Fester and Gomez.
Pretty much, fake Fester shows up at the Addams family home, and throughout the movie, he tries to swindle them out of their money. Of course, it's the Addams Family, and nothing is ever simple -- just use your imagination!
Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind
If your creativity is in need of visual stimulation, then look no further than Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Not only is the movie visually stunning to watch, but it is complex enough to where you're actually going to have to pay attention to the plot.
Starring Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet as unlikely lovers, the film follows there stories as they fall in love only to have a harsh breakup. Their solution to heartbreak: get their memories erased.
The Legend of Korra
With all of the hype surrounding Avatar: The Last Airbender, it was only a matter of time before Netflix released the sequel series, The Legend of Korra. This series takes place 70 years after Aang and his friends defeat the Fire Lord and bring peace to the four nations.
Now, it's time for a new Avatar, a new gang, and a new mission to bring balance to the land. Oh, and there are four books instead of three. So, we have that going for us.
Jurassic Park
It's time to explore the world of dinosaurs in Jurassic Park. There's nothing quite like getting scared off of your couch with a fake T-Rex roar because two kids don't know how to follow instructions. Alas, the film is a classic, and one everything should see at least once.
If you haven't seen Jurassic Park, get ready to see where the franchise began -- on an island housing dinosaurs made from the blood of ancient mosquitoes.
Nights In Rodanthe
For those in need of a good cry, you'll be happy to know the Nicholas Sparks-inspired movie Nights in Rodanthe is coming to Netflix in August. Adrienne Willis goes on a trip to Rodanthe, North Carolina, wanting to take some time to think her life over while helping her friend out by taking care of a bed-and-breakfast.
She didn't expect to fall for the moody surgeon Paul Flanner while she was there, though. That's all we're going to say on the matter. You're just going to have to watch the film to get the rest of the details.
Lucifer (Season 5 - Part I)
August will see Netflix's favorite fallen angel back from Hell, or so it would seem. When we last left the series Lucifer, the King of the Underworld was leaving his Earth to return to the fire and brimstone for the sole purpose of saving the woman he loves, Chloe, aka Detective.
Now, he's back, but not everything is as it seems. The first part of season five is sure to be a whirlwind of mischief and mystery, and we, for one, couldn't be more excited.
A Knight's Tale
Get ready to go back to medieval times with a young Heath Ledger this August with the film A Knight's Tale. The film follows the story of peasant-born William Thatcher as he goes on a quest to change his social standing.
Of course, that quest involves him signing up for a jousting contest with a boat-load of knights. Who knows, maybe it will work out for Thatcher and he'll win the heart of the maiden Jocelyn.
World's Most Wanted
The latest true crime docuseries to join the ever-growing Netflix catalog is World's Most Wanted. This series follows the tales of five of the world's most notorious criminals, profiling the fugitives and how they've been able to avoid life behind bars for over 20 years.
If you're interested in taking a deep dive into the lives, crimes, and profiles of some of the world's most wanted people, then you're going to want to take the time to watch this docuseries.
Mr. Deeds
From the golden age of Adam Sandler movies came the gem Mr. Deeds. The comedy follows the story of, you guessed it, Longfellow Deeds, a simple Hallmark card-writing man who is happy in his tiny town of Mandrake Falls, New Hampshire.
Then, his world is turned upside down when a long lost relative leaves him 40 billion dollars. Needless to say, some people aren't overly happy, a reporter is thrown into the mix, and more than one unnecessary thing is bought with the cash.
The NeverEnding Story
If you're like us, then you might remember the '80s film The NeverEnding Story. Here's a hint, there is a huge cloud dog that most children wanted to ride on. Anywho, the film revolves around a kid named Bastian who discovers a book, The Neverending Story.
The book describes a land called Fantasia, a place being eaten by something called "The Nothing." According to the story, only a human child can save Fantasia. Could that child be Bastian?
The Magic School Bus Rides Again Kids In Space
If you don't remember the television show The Magic School Bus, allow us to enlighten you. The series followed the quirky, red-haired science teacher, Ms. Frizzle, as she brought her class on what will always be the coolest field trips known to kid-kind.
But on August 5, a 45-minute special is going to be added to Netflix that is based solely on the kids and Ms. Frizzle making a trip to space.
Being John Malkovich
One of the more bizarre movies coming to the streaming platform in August is Being John Malkovich. Now, hear us out. This film follows a puppeteer as he discovers a portal that transports him into the mind of actor John Malkovich.
We told you it's weird. Now, John Cusack's character realizes that he and his wife can sell the "experience" for a profit. Yea, nothing is going to go wrong with that idea!
Remember Me
Remember Me is a story of love, loss, and tragedy. Living in New York, Tyler is a moody guy who wants nothing to do with his father after a family tragedy strikes. Then, he meets Ally, a young girl studying at NYU who has her own scars to bear.
Together, they find love in a very unlikely place. And while she tries to help Tyler move on and have a relationship with his father, something happens -- something no one was expecting.
The Ugly Truth
With all of the romantic dramas Netflix is releasing in August, we're thankful for a little break in the heaviness. The Ugly Truth stars Katherine Heigl and Gerard Butler as a television producer and television personality who go head to head on their concepts of love and relationships.
Of course, it's a rom-com. So, obviously, they end up having one of those schoolyard crushes that develops into something more with some yelling thrown in between.
Johnny English
Rowan Atkinson is the inept spy in the comedy film Johnny English. Honestly, any film with Atkinson is worth your time, solely because he is a hysterical comedian. Regardless, the film follows English as he tries to take down criminal mastermind Pascal Sauvage.
Of course, per Atkinson humor, there is a lot of slapstick and physical humor throughout the movie. Pretty much, you'll be belly laughing by the time the closing credits roll down the screen.
Dennis the Menace
The classic family film Dennis the Menace is coming to Netflix in August. If you have young kids, now is the time to schedule a family movie night with this title headlining. When the Mitchells leave for the weekend, it's up to their neighbors to watch their young son, Dennis.
Only Dennis is a bit of a troublemaker, and George Wilson doesn't really care for him. But, plot twist, a burglar comes, and it's up to the cranky old neighbor to save the young boy.
Ocean's Twelve
After Terry Benedict locates all of the members of Danny Ocean's gang, demanding they pay back the money they stole in Las Vegas, the crew has to come up with another heist. See, they all pretty much spent their money, so they're unable to pay Benedict back plus the interest he's insisting on.
So, in Ocean's Twelve, the gang heads to Europe in the hopes of pulling off another huge heist. Find out if they're able to pay the casino owner back when the movie drops on Netflix in August.
Pick Of The Litter
Puppies, puppies, and more puppies... the documentary Pick of the Litter is just littered with adorable puppies. The film follows five adorable pooches from the time they're born through their education to become guide dogs.
This is a feel-good film for dog lovers, lab lovers, and just people who enjoy watching little animals excel at something huge. Trust us; you're not going to want to miss out on watching Pick of the Litter.
Casino Royale
In August, say hello to 007 and watch as he gets his license to kill and travels to Madagascar. There, he finds a connection to Le Chiffre, a high stakes player who just so happens to finance a bunch of terrorist organizations.
When M16 decides to throw James Bond on the same high stakes poker table as the criminal head, all bets are off. It's going to be up to the new "00" agent to bring down the organization.
The Frozen Ground
Based on the true crimes of Alaskan serial killer Robert Hansen, The Frozen Ground is a suspenseful and thrilling film you're not going to want to miss. The film follows an Alaskan state trooper, played by Nic Cage, who wants nothing more than to bring Hansen to justice.
