Reading people's behavior and signals while you're dating can feel like trying to solve a puzzle. Talking is key, but it's not the only way that people communicate.

If you're still in the early stages of getting to know somebody, there are certain body language signs you can watch for to see if they're feeling you.

Okay, this one seems obvious but it may be more subtle than you think and therefore harder to notice.

When you're out in public places or seated somewhere like a couch or bench, pay attention to whether your date feels comfortable enough to stay facing you or move toward you.

Unless you were trained in theater or law enforcement, staring into people's eyes for long periods of time is super awkward.

But if your date is making a conscious effort to look into your eyes while you're talking, it's a great sign they're truly interested in what you have to say.

Eye contact is great but if you constantly feel like you have a set of eyes on you while you're eating, drinking, or watching TV, it can be super anxiety-inducing (and kind of creepy).

If the person you're seeing is maintaining eye contact when you're chatting but also giving you space to breathe when you're not, they're sending the right signals.

This unintentional behavior tends to happen when people feel a connection with someone that they're interested in.

It may be as subtle as reaching for their drink when you reach for yours or brushing their forehead in the same place after you do.

One way that someone can really let you know they feel attracted to you is by gently making physical contact a few times throughout the date.

Nothing overwhelming, but a few small moments of contact like touching your arm or moving a piece of hair is a great way for them to establish an intimate vibe.

There's a fine line between laying it on too thick and making a solid first impression.

If someone comes on too strong by being too touchy-feely, or too invasive of your personal space, it might be time to end the date.

When people are closed off or feeling like they want to get out of a situation they tend to tense up and close their bodies off.

This can look like interlocking fingers, crossing legs, antsiness, or crossing their arms. They will stare at the door and check their watch frequently. So basically, if your date is not doing these things, it's going well.

Small gestures like adjusting one's hair, facial hair, clothing, or accessories are a subtle sign that someone is a bit nervous and working to keep their appearance in tip-top shape.

Little movements like these are called "preening" and show that someone is aware of how they may look to you. As long as it's not over the top, it's a good sign.

They Pay Full Attention To You

Going on dates is not usually a super long process so it's not unreasonable to expect that your date pays attention to you while you're there.

If they make a solid effort to put their phone away and devote their full attention to you, instead of the game on the TV behind you, they're showing you that they're into you.

They Are Smiling Often

Not like a weird forced smile, but a genuine smile that shows they are enjoying your company and conversation.

It's easy to laugh and smile if you're doing an activity like bowling or arcade games, but if they are smiling often when you are just hanging out chatting it's because they're feeling you!

Politeness is a great quality that's usually pretty obvious based on how somebody talks to a stranger.

Subtle signs of more traditional politeness your date might be doing are opening your door, clearing your dishes after a meal, or helping you put on your coat.
