Times Biology Rewrote The Rules
It's no secret to anyone who's ever gone through puberty that everybody's body is different, and there's not a whole lot you can do about it if you have an aspect of your body that's different than someone else's.
If you were born with a few extra fingers or some funky-looking pupils, you'll eventually grow into them and grow used to them, but it could take you a while. You're not the only one though, these people coming up all have something a little different about their anatomy.
Half-Blonde-Half-Brunettes Have The Most Fun
She's got that "business in the front, party in the back mentality" but rather than sporting a mullet, she gets it from the half-blonde, half-brunette dye-free hairstyle she was born with.
We're a little jealous, honestly.
She Wears Her Heart On Her Head
Birthmarks are supposedly a mark of how you died in a past life.
If that's the case, this heart-shaped birthmark on her head leaves us with more questions than answers.
Peeling Back The Layers
A regular old eye is boring to look at. We've all got eyes, there's nothing exciting there, but what about an eye that has an extra iris growing over top of the pupil?
That keeps things interesting.
Somethumbs Missing?
You might think that you couldn't live without a thumb, and your life might be a little more difficult in some cases if you lost this, but this man will tell you it's doable.
Tell us your secrets!
Is This Even Comfortable?
We're not sure if this is one of those things where your knees naturally extend that much in a resting position, or it could be something he discovered as a child that his body could do so he got used to it.
Either way, we're impressed!
It's Like An Elbow On Top Of An Elbow
How exactly does one's elbow end up looking like this?
Unclear, but it functions just like any other person's elbow, so it doesn't really matter why it looks like two stacked on top of each other, I guess.
His Eyes Look Like Marbles
Eyes are something that people often notice first about someone or remember about a person they've met before.
It would be hard to forget this man's eyes after meeting him.
Chameleon Mode Activated
Some parents claim to have eyes in the back of their head, whereas this guy has eyes that can look high and low at the same time.
He can watch that spider on the ceiling while reaching down to grab a tissue.
The Red-Head Gene Is Definitely Dominant Here
Red hair might be a recessive gene normally, but in this family, it's clearly the most dominant gene. Which is how they ended up with 7 children all of whom are natural redheads.
Extended Iris Or Melting Pupil?
You probably wouldn't notice something like an extended iris on a person's eye right away or from a distance, but up close, it's pretty hard not to see what's happening.
Creepy.
A Wider Peace Sign Than Normal
There's no reason for anyone to need to make a peace sign that extends this wide unless you were trying to teach a small animal to jump through your fingers or playing paper football in class...
...but here we are.
So...Which One Is The Ring Finger?
If you have five fingers on each of your hands plus your thumb, would you choose to put your ring on the third finger like this woman has done, or do you go for the fourth finger?
Also, which finger counts as the extra?
Our Hands Don't Bend Like This...
At first glance, it looks like someone holding a water bottle like anyone normally would.
Once you realize that the person is actually using the back of their hand to do it, it's a little concerning.
Long Lost Birthmarks
Though these two girls aren't actually related to each other, their birthmarks seem to suggest otherwise.
Thanks to the opposite markings on their forearms that look like a reflection of one another.
A Real-Life Elastigirl
I suppose Elastigirl from The Incredibles is more about getting to stretch her joints rather than stretch her actual skin, but this is close enough, right?
This boy has what's called Hereditary Progressive Arthro-ophthalmodystrophy, a disorder that "literally makes my body fall apart."
Love The Skin You're In
Ears are one of those things that most of the time, even if they're a little out of shape, they still function like normal.
That's the case here. It looks a little out of place, but they can still hear you comment on it.
He'll Cross That Bridge When He Comes To It
Which in his case will be never, because he doesn't have a bridge in his nose.
When looking at him, you normally wouldn't notice it, but our noses don't fold like that.
Now That's A Swimmer's Body
Just like how particularly tall people often gravitate towards (or are placed into) sports like basketball and volleyball, we imagine that if you're born with webbed feet, you might consider trying out for the swim team.
Why not?
This Is Spiraling Out Of Control
If your belly button rests exactly in line with your stomach, does that count as an innie or an outie?
It's really just a middle belly button, with a particularly distinct shape.
They're All Functional, There's Just A Few More
This baby was unexpectedly born with 6 toes on each foot as well as 6 fingers on each hand, making for 12 each in total.
All the fingers and toes function normally and they don't negatively affect him—he's just got some bonus digits.
Missing A Toe And An Inch
So not only is this woman missing a toe on her left foot, but her left foot is also a fair bit smaller than her right one.
It would definitely make shoe shopping more complicated.
It Left Him With Some Unique Coloring
"Man with Waardenburg Syndrome, which purportedly makes him deaf in one ear, with white hair, and different colored eyes."
As far as unique features go, this man hit the jackpot. He'll always be memorable.
A Split Decision
I'm not entirely convinced that the uvula serves a big purpose in the body, but whatever it does, this person gets to have double the effect thanks to their split one.
Cool?
You Could Probably Pick Stuff Up With Them
If you thought that you had some funky toes going on, check out this person whose particularly long toes leave them looking like they've mixed up their hands and feet.
Wanna shake?
An Even Two-Two Split
For some unknown reason, this man was born with his ring finger being the same length as his pinky finger, whereas the first two fingers are the typical length you'd expect.
Science knows what happened!
It's Like He Inherited The Injury
The man on the right lost part the top portion of his index finger in an accident as an adult, but then surprise, surprise!
When his son was born, they realized his index finger was significantly shorter than the other fingers.
No Rugby Required
Cauliflower ear is something that rugby players often develop from one too many scrums.
This girl, though, was born with her ear like this, without ever having to play a game of rugby.
He Can Grow A Mohawk Without Trying
"My son has symmetrical Hair Whorls which go in opposite directions."
Not sure if "whorls" is the official terminology for it, but it's certainly a solid description for what's going on.
A Lord Of The Rings Extra Waiting To Happen
If she walked onto the set of The Lord of the Rings, this girl wouldn't have any issue convincing them that she was meant to be there.
She's already got part of her costume on!
Two Thumbs Up
Macrodactyly is the name for a condition where your pinky finger, which is typically your smallest finger on your hand, comes to be the largest finger.
It often resembles something like a thumb.
Permanently Dilated
Anisocoria is a condition in which one eye's pupil differs in size from the other eye.
His one pupil still functions normally and fluctuates in size, but the larger one is permanently fixed like that.
That Will Pack A Punch
The knuckles on this man's left hand didn't develop properly as a child, resulting in two of them being pushed back further than others...
...leaving his fingers looking more like a staircase.
Are All Fingers See-Through?
We've never held our hand up to the light to see if we can see through them, but this man has, and he was surprised to find that he could see the internal bruising he had in his fingers.
That's intense.
The Dark Side Of The Mouth
How would someone even discover that they have tentacles on the underside of their tongue?
And if you did discover it, you'd probably assume everyone had that because you don't frequently see other peoples' tongues, but you'd be mistaken.
He'll Always Know When He's Cold
Not that he needed the help of his fingers to alert him when he's cold, but this man's ring finger on both hands turns ghostly white whenever his hands are cold.
Is he even alive?
What Are You Looking At?
This person had to have their eye removed due to genetic degradation.
As a gift from their ocularist, they were given a pretty wicked prosthetic that no one else will ever have.
Particularly Pruney
This 19-year-old boy ends up looking more like a 90-year-old every time he goes swimming, no matter how long he goes for.
He says he always ends up with much more wrinkly, pruned skin than anyone else.
One From Each Parent
Genetics is a funny thing, and it's always interesting for parents to see what qualities their kids develop from each parent, or which genetic traits are most dominant.
In this case, this son got one thumb from each of his parents.
Five Fingers Is Two Too Many
This person was born missing their pinky and thumb on their right hand. Despite the one finger looking a lot like a thumb, she was told by doctors that it's actually what would be her pinky finger.
Due to the lack of those two fingers, the other fingers also appear to be longer because she has less palm to balance it.
